What is El Coquí of Rincón? This little magazine has had several incarnations: first as a penny saver begun by UPRM professor Joan Sandoz (she called it El Chavito), then revived by visitor Kerry Sanclimenti as El Coquí of Rincón and passed to then- resident Karen Moninger who left the island to return to Kansas City, Mo. Karen sold the paper to its present owner, Rhea Maxwell. It has always been a bilingual publication.
The current El Coquí of Rincón hopes to be more than a vehicle for advertising. It is a magazine about and for the residents of Rincón which is a unique community of North Americans (full and part-time), Rincoeños (people born and raised in Rincón) and visitors to the town. It is hoped that this magazine and its sister publication Buen Provecho Rincón (a restaurant guide published once a year) can answer to the needs of Rincón’s diverse constituents. The website for the restaurant guide www.BuenProvechoRincon.com is designed and managed by 413 GEEK.
Online at www.CoquiRincon.com you can download and read El Coquí of Rincón as in PDF format. There is an archive of past issues, our popular calendar of events (which can be downloaded and printed), links to our advertiser’s websites, and of course, our advertising rate package in both Spanish and English.
We have a new On Line publication – www.ElCoquiofRincon.com. Unlike the original site with the PDF magazine, this website will have featured stories, blogs, links to Rincón businesses and events. We are looking forward to publishing more stories and information for the town. Readers can subscribe to El Coquí of Rincón in this form and find it in your email whenever it is updated. The webmaster for both these sites is Luis Fernando Ortiz.

¿Qué es El Coquí of Rincón? Esta pequeña revista ha tenido varias encarnaciones: primero como un boletín de anuncios fundado por la profesora Joan Sandoz de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Mayagüez. Ella lo llamó “El Chavito”. Después fue revivido por un visitante llamado Kerry Sanclimenti como “El Coquí of Rincón” y luego fue traspasado a la entonces residente de Rincón, Karen Moninger, quién mas tarde dejó la isla para retornar a Kansas City, Missouri. Karen le vendió la revista a Rhea Maxwell, la dueña actual. Siempre ha sido una publicación bilingüe.
El Coquí of Rincón actual desea ser algo mas que un vehículo para promociones. Es una revista sobre y para los residentes del pueblo de Rincón, el cual presenta una comunidad diversa de norteamericanos que residen todo o parte del tiempo, los rincoeños nacidos y criados en el pueblo, y los visitantes. Es nuestro deseo que esta revista y su hermana publicación, “Buen Provecho Rincón” (una guía de restaurantes publicada anualmente), pueda responder a las necesidades de la diversa población del pueblo.
